Can a single item have an inherent fault?

    Sorry, I'm with you now. I think Nilrem hit the nail on the head, you can have 2 hard drives from the same catch with one lasting a lifetime and the other only lasting a few months. In my experience, I have found that drives from the big name manufacturers like Western Digital and Seagate TEND to last pretty well although there's always the odd one that slips through the net.

    The Onus is on the customer to prove an inherant fault after 6 months.
    You say your a computer technician, can i ask what associated qualifications you have. You will at least need to be certified to give a credible engineers report to the manufacturer.

    Even if you are cetified to give an engineers report, there is NO gaurantee they will replace or refund. You may have to go down the small claims court to enforce

    Why would he need a report? He bought it in july......unless your year runs different from the rest of ours, thats less than 6 months ;)
