Lloyds TSB Ideal closure
Options
Hi there
I have been battling with Lloyds TSB ideal for months about my estimated bills over the last few months. They haven't read any of my meters over the last 3 years. This has consequently led to inflated bills and a large debt of approx £950 pounds. They kept saying they would send someone out but never did. I never heard from them until recently, when they offered to cut my bill to £550 as a "good will gesture". Sniffing a rat I later found out that scottish power has taken over their buisiness and I think they are trying to recoup their money. They ring me approx 5 times a day "for one week only offer". After speaking to someone at the call centre, he led me to believe that once they have been taken over the debt will not be able to be collected. I have paid my normal monthly gas & electric, but the outstanding money has been disputed. Does any one else know anything about this?
Many thanks from an avid receiver of MSE emails but first time forum user

Welcome to the forum.
To be quite honest I don't think a great deal of your post.
If you have been "battling" with them for months, and they "kept saying you they would send someone out" you presumably have had plenty of contact with them.
In that case, could you not have given them the meter readings yourself?
Secondly you have not been "paying your normal monthly gas and electric"; you have underpaid apparently to the tune of £950.
On what grounds has the "outstanding money been disputed?"
You 'sniff a rat' because a company are 'trying to recoup' £550 of the £950 you owe them - Mmmm - how dreadful that a company would do such a thing; try to recover a some of a debt - whatever next!
You clearly have no moral case to get out of your debt and it appears you are simply asking if there is a way to wriggle out of paying something you owe.
In my opinion there would be a lot more merit in your post if you simply stated that aim.0 -
You have used the energy, therefore you have to pay for it I am afraid. They have not taken readings but you also have not volunteered any to them either.
Did you not notice that the estimated readings were no where near you actual usage?
You owe the money so should pay. If it was the other way round and they owed you money you would be quick enough to demand it all from them in FULLBaby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j0
