I have just moved house and am trying to sort out who I want for my electric and gas supply.

I was tempted with Scottish Power and agreed to their fixed until 2013 tariff online paid by DD and £80 back by switching with USwitch I am still under the 7 day cancel umbrella until Sunday.

Their breakdown is
Electric First 225 kWh used each quarter 20.282p
All/Day remaining kWh 10.033p
Gas First 670 kWh used each quarter 7.094p
All remaining kWH 3.252p
No Standing Charge

NPower offer Go Fix 8
Electric Standing Charge 36.02p Per Day
Remaining kWh 9.060p
Gas Standing Charge 38.03p Per Day
Remaining kWH 3.320p

NPower say based on the data base for my property and people sharing £72PM would cover it

Scotish Power say based on the same data base £116PM would do it

I did a reading the day I moved in on 4/12/11 it was
Elec...41222 Gas...0074
I took another reading on 22/12/11 it was
Elec...41363 Gas...0102

I don't understand how to price my readings so can somebody help please.

If I read the above correctly so far your costs for electricity with

    Npower would be 18 days * 36.02p per day = £6.48 + 141kw @ 9.06p = £12.77 total electric (exc vat) £19.26

    Scottish power £32.17

However it depends on what you expect to use over the year - eg with a quarters usage of 700kw I calculated Scottish power to be slightly cheaper.

Given Npowers dreadful customer service personally I'd also say "any power but Npower!" - regardless of costs

If costs are your only consideration however I'd suggest you try putting yor anticipated usage into a price comparison site rather than rely on what any supplier trying to sell themselves tells you
