  • Did you not set your seller preferences to prevent those with a feedback rating of 5 or under from bidding?

  • You have a right to not sell the item to them yes just as long as you made it clear in the auction that feedback of 5 or more was needed. Chances are they will be ok, maybe you should take the risk.

If the item is worth under £100 then me personally I would sell it to them.

I did set the preference thing which is why I do not understand they could bid.

They have sent an e-mail 'when i going to recieve my item' No hello thanks or payment!!!

could be wrong as dont use this function. But the preferences for blocking on feedback is only if they have -1, -2 or -3.

You can only stipulate other feedback, and if you did state clearly that only bidders with 5 for above then the buyer has not met your seller requirements.

  • How weird :/ I wonder what went wrong.

They don't sound very pleasant. How can they expect to be receiving an item without even paying lol

    Ok. Common misconception.

You CANNOT block low feedback users unless they have NO CREDIT CARD ON FILE.

Your 4 feedback buyer obviously has one. I'm afraid you have no right to cancel the sale on him.

Well... you could try to enforce your seller terms but it's not really in the 'spirit of ebay' - and he'd be within his rights to report you as a NPS.

I agree with fay here..only users with an overall negative feedback can be blocked unless you specify that users with less than 5 feedback must have a credit card rgistered.

Also, you cannot turn round and say the sale is void, obviously no one can force you to sell but your terms don't over ride those of ebay so the buyer will remain eligible to leave you a negative and go through the non performing seller complaint.

We all start somewhere, so explain to your buyer that you ship goods on receipt of cleared funds and ask then how they are going to pay. I have had a couple of newbies thik that the card they registered on ebay was used by ebay to pay for their wins, so a polite email to them is a good idea.

If after 7 days you have received no payment open an NPB, and if on day 8 after that you have received no response close the dispute, get your FVFs back and relist.

Yes it may be against the ebay spririt not to sell and as against ebay rules, that may not be true, as in the user agreement it does say.

5.3 Binding Bids. A seller who receives at least one bid at or above the stated minimum bid price (or in the case of reserve auctions, at or above the reserve price) must complete the transaction with the highest bidder on completion of the listing, unless: (a) the item is listed in a category under our Non-Binding Bid Policy; (b) the buyer fails to meet the conditions of the seller's listing (such as payment method); or (c) the seller cannot authenticate the buyer's identity.

Whether that means the prefrence panel on settings or sellers listing. Bit of a grey one that. So if you were to go on that ebay ruling then technically yes you can refuse to sell.

But as soolin has said, everyone must strart from somewhere, and can be hard on new ebayers.

Best thing would be to look at previous 4 sales he has made, if they are run of the mill buys then why not sell to him, or if they are 4 ebooks for a penny each then dont sell.

if I opened a new account I could have 5 positive feedbacks before the end of the day very easily.

I think ebayare quite clear on this and you really are breaking their rules.

you have to take the rough with the smooth and as has been stated you will receive an NPS and a big negative feedback.

I would get back to the buyer abd ascertain how they are going to pay you might have a get ut clase then if they are paying via Paypal and have an unconfirmed address.
