Stopping JSA If going Abroad

If you were claiming JSA and say had to go abroad to say Asia. YOu would stop the JSA claim.

But when you come back you can opt for the fast track restart to start claiming again. They ask you where you went when you went and when you came back.

But are you LEGALLY entitled to give them this information? Do you LEGALLY have to provide them with passport and proof of where you went?

I think you mean are you required to give them the information, as opposed to entitled.

But anyway assuming you only went for a holiday and didn't stay for an extended period of time then they likely won't care and a HRT won't be necessary.

Of course if you don't give them the information they require then it will likely cause delays, down to you really.
  • You don't have to give them any information and then they don't have to give you any money.

Say it was for one and a half months.

@midnight - Fair enough but I need the money.

So its a case of you could just say I dont want to show you my passport, but then going by their 'mindset' they would then use that as an excuse to probe further to figure out why you dont want to show them blah blah. The reason being 'I wasnt signing on, I wasnt claiming any money, You werent employing me, therefore you have no legal right to know what I was doing, where I was doing it or with whom I was doing it with, no matter how much you try to badger me." Correct me if Im wrong.

They wouldn't ask to see your passport anyway they would just give you a Habitually Resident Test form.

If I recall that only applies when you have spent more than 6 months out of the country anyway.

Besides its not like your getting a stamp in your passport when you re-enter the UK, a stamp in your passport if issued will only show when you entered a foreign or non-eu country and how long you could stay for example.

If you want the state to intervene in your life (eg to pay you because you have no money) you can't them complain when that intervention requires you to explain your movements and situation.

One wonders why you would be so difficult about it?

I work full time and cant go abroad!

But anyway. You could say you were on holiday within the uk, then your money does not get stopped. However they often require proof i.e. Hotel booking's.

However, if you can afford 6 weeks away, i'm sure you can miss the £300ish you would have had.
And at a push, i'm sure friends and family would be happy if you brought nice things back for cheaps.

Oh and the "you weren't employing me" line wont work.

They'll ask where you where and what you were doing incaped you were working. Therefore, they do have a right to know and from experience, the more you fight it, the harder they will make it for you.
