Signed with Npower - Have i done the right thing!
Options
I have moved from Swalec to Npower as Swalec were charging me £80 for a service charge that never needs to pay for. (so i'm told by Npower guy)
As Transco and Western something sort out any issues i have.
Now i was in the middle of painting so did not have my head that screwed on so asked did i have a cooling off period yes 14 days so took the paper work and had a look.
Seems ok but heard loads of horror stories of these things. Anyone with Npower are they any good?
Swalec have been fine but if i can save £100 a year i will

they probably mean standing charge - and that's typical sales talk - don't believe that, it's not always true.
I would suggest you go to uswitch.com and put the details of your property and how much you spend on gas/electricity into the website. Then see where npower and swalec come in the tables.
If Swalec is the default supplier in your area (which with your mention of Western power I'm guessing it is), then you will definately save money by switching away from Swalec, but you may be able to save more than this by going to another supplier rather than npower.
And you can get cashback for switching via certain cashback websites (including quidco) if you go that route.
See what the figures say anyway!
Oh and npower in my experience are as good and bad as anyone else. If they have all the correct data, everythings fine, otherwise it's a nightmare.
And I'm sure you'll take a meter reading when asked for change of supplier!Indecision is the key to flexibility0 -
They have a hidden service charge, like almost all no standing charge tariffs except Ebico's - they charge a premium for the first x amount you use, then after that you pay the normal rate. Swalec can do the same if you ask them. I recommend you cancel with nPower, pop your details in a comparison site such as energyhelpline, choose a cheap supplier off there and get cashback too
FYI nPower's Sign on Line tariff often comes up cheapest, but isn't available to existing customers (so if your transfer went through and you tried to switch to it they would refuse, you would have to cancel and re-sign) and based on previous form the discounts aren't likely to last that long. Also Swalec have announced they will be cutting their prices soon, but not when or how much by.0 -
Agree with the poster above - basically if you didn't get the NPower sign online tariff then you have probably made a mistake.0

Thanks guys will ring tomorrow and cancel. Does anyone have a non 0870 number for Npower thats works?0

Ok just done a quick go on Uswitch and Npower have come on top. Now whats this Sign on Tariff?0

Exactly what is says on the tin, you have to sign on line and manage your accounts on line. See my warning above.0

they all (except possibly Ebico) have either a standing charge or a block rate where you pay more for the first couple of units a day and the normal rate thereafter. It's because the distributing company charges for the cost of maintaining the wiring and metering.Indecision is the key to flexibility0

0800 022220 is on the saynoto0870 website for npower residential customer servicesIndecision is the key to flexibility0

if you signed up and you have the paperwork there may be a number on that and it would be best to use the number given if you want to cancel, rather than trying the main customer services as that will be a different department anyway.Indecision is the key to flexibility0
