I had a Datsun 120 A FII Coupe and my dad had a Datsun 180B Estate which I shortened by 2ft at the front one day...:(

Was that on premium tyres? ;)
  • i remember my dad having a datsun stanza 1.6 saloon , rare beast lol top quality velour seats with a center arm rest in back seemed like luxury comapred to vauxhall chevete he had before. one night some one tried to steal the rear windscreen luckily we disturbed them and they only hald sliced the rear seal out, touns out rear screens were worth over 300 quid on that car and that was in late 80's. can also remeber the radio having one center speaker up front. and the buttons to control the air vents and stuff were you select floor window etc were liek hydraulic or something as you pressed them in and out and you could here things moving for a couple of seconds afer you pressed it ,

I had a 260ZX looked like a sports car but didn't drive like one! Then a 280ZX Turbo that was better but still not super fast! Both good log distance cruisers and pretty good on the go juice, we were just getting into the petrol crisis. Panicking because it was going soon to be over a £1 a gallon!!!!!

I'd bought a shabby estate car from a woman at work when her husband died ... and then found out she got upset when she saw me arriving for work .... and at that time a mate of mine with a totally smart 180B SSS had just been nicked again and needed to downsize for insurance purposes, so we did a straight swap. It was fab. Loved the way the windows opened without a window frame .... which then lead me into years of buying Celicas.
  • Early 90's my first car was a 1981 Datsun 120 Sunny. RWD. Hand brake didn't work if I had passengers, lots of rust, but it passed every MOT (somehow) and I sold it for the same price I bought it for 2 years later.

It was like this, but in faded red: 1274591952_95569981_1-Datsun-120Y-Model-1980-for-Urgent-Sale-Rawalpindi-1274591952.jpg

    I owned a Cherry in the late '80's...[the Euro-shape]....

Unbelievably better made than anything that went before....

The dashboard illumination shocked the living daylights out of me when first turned on
No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......
  • I had a Y reg stanza 1.6gl and it was a fantastic car, comfy, fast, reliable and economical, I found it a much nicer drive with a more modern interior than the mk3 escort at the time however is rusted early in its life and was swiss cheese and was pretty much unrepairable as there was nothing to weld on to eventually. with a bit better rustproofing from the factory I think they would have been great cars. My wifes s plate micra and her dads p plate micra suffered serious rust problems early on too, I caught hers on time once we started going out but her dads crossmember had rotted clean out and took loads of patching to get the new crossmember secure. Hasn't put us off as we have a rust free 53 reg x-trail now.

We had two Datsuns, my dads cars, but just when I had passed my test, so had plenty driving them.

First was a 160B 1972, L reg. then a 140J 1974, N reg. Both great cars but affected by the tin worm.
