    Moved to 0% cards and cut up the old ones. Felt great. The others are in the drawer and unused.

    I have one I use for purchases online or if it's a good idea for protection etc, but never for more than I can afford. I am sooo good now I look at the statement online and pay it off before I get the paper copy through the post!!

    I cut the cards up over two years ago. Although I'm still paying them off, I love using cash. Saving up and using cash at Christmas is great.

    I wish I could cut the cards up but I'm also too scared. Got 2 CC's and will eventually cut one up and keep one for emergencies only (will give this to mum to keep for me as I'll never get it back off her - emergency or not). I really want to cut my store cards up but again too scared!!!

    Do you still use a debit card? I don't think I could cope without plastic at all as I do such a lot of my shopping etc online. And then there is matched betting....
    :confused::o

    But I am not spending on a credit card now - still have a few and am playing them off against each other to get the best rates for the debt but not for shopping. And am putting money aside so next Christmas will be a cash one! Look forward to getting rid of cards altogether! :)
  • Our cards were cut up nearly a year ago :j I haven't missed them for everyday things,but when we tried to book a ferry,we couldn't :eek: we couldn't get anyone else to use theirs as the name on the card didn't match the name of the passengers :mad: ,they wouldn't accept Maestro,so we had to turn up on the day with cash hoping there would be room for us,luckily we only waited 3 hours.
    For some things,like hotels or travel,life can be very difficult without the plastic friend,I have a Maestro/Cirrus debit card,but didn't realise that it isn't as widely accepted as visa/delta,had I have known that at the time I would have got the visa/delta,now it's too late :mad:
    I certainly don't miss the waiting for the statement and worry over how we will pay it ;)

    Well done all of you!

    I have my debit card and cheque book, which I use sensibly anyway, which I will always keep, and only have a pin number for one of my credit cards, so I can't take the others shopping (ok I have pin numbers for the others, but never looked at it, or changed them to one I can remember ;) )

    Even though some of my cards no longer have balances, I am keeping them all (4?) until I am totally debt free and can have a celebration day of cutting and dicing! :T

    YAY!

    Have been without my plastic for about 6 Months now and pay by cash or bank transfer for most things. Its a great feeling to know that you are kind of back in control of things even though I have the balances still on the cards I cannot run up further debts and knowing that the balance will eventually come down.

    I do want to get a debit card as I have found that paying small bill that get missed to be a nightmare otherwise. NTL cocked up adirect debit for example and cut me off when I couldnt pay immediatley as a bank transfer would not show for a couple of days. I guess it makes you need to be a little more organised with things.

    Saying that I do still have one credit card that can be used for work but I hardly use this now and prefer to pay cash and claim it back.

    I have made a vow that I will never use bad credit again and will only get involved good credit (mortgages ect).
