It is sad, though, that this type of dishonourable behaviour is so commonplace that people think it's perfectly acceptable.

  • I never said it was acceptable did I?

No, I wasn't referring to you.

I find that in r/l, if, in conversation, you complain about dishonest advertising, a lot of people will say things along the lines of: "Oh, come on, everyone does it". People seem to so inured to dishonesty that they no longer care.

  • Raising prices is not being dishonest is it?

Lowering prices is therefore not dishonest either.

Ive found that all through my adult life and even when I was a bairn the price of goods has risen and fallen subject to the whims of either the man in the corner shop or the big bad nasty CEOs of companies.

In real life this must not happen and only in my own little fantasy land of pixies and fairies.

No, but advertising a sale item as 'Was £34' when the price had been artificially raised to that level previously IS dishonest.
  • IMHO I would buy it elsewhere :)

Are you really this obtuse or are you just posting this for a bet? ;)

    This really gets my goat.

The other week, there was an advert on the TV for a TV IIRC and it said something like £150 off. The small print said that the item has been sold at the £150 more higher price for just one week. As the item wasn't a new release in the past few weeks, clearly they had upped the price for just the week for the advertisment.

I think they should only be allowed to show a sale price, as xx amount off, from the lowest price it has ever been on sale and/or the item should have been on sale at the higher price for at least 1 month.

The Argos sale books are full of little stars/diamonds/square icons, which tell people that a particular item, has already been sold at the lower price before, or that the item showing at xx amount off, has actually been sold at an even lower price than the current sale price!!!!!

Yep, and yet still the grabbit board is awash with people who want to grab an Argos bargain of something thats been £10 cheaper previously. Never did understand it.

I think some people just see the word 'Sale' and their vision goes blinkered.
