I've never understood people who post in forums like this with an apparent cynicism about whether someone will replace something or comply with the SOGA.

If they DON'T fulfil their requirements then fair enough, but at least try before you question them!!

I've had a few issues with iPhones over the last few years of owning them, and without fail I've taken them to my local Apple store's genius bar (with an appointment - bear that in mind, go to apple.com/uk first to book one!) and had them replaced within a few minutes, or the problem fixed - even iPhones I've taken on contract from other shops.

99% of the time, Apples customer service is outstanding.

That article refers to Italian law, not UK law. Applecare can only be bought whilst you're still covered by warranty. Otherwise no one would buy it unless their product was broken?! They may bend the rules, but they definitely do not have to sell you Applecare outside of the 12 months. I'd take it into an Apple store, they tend to be very good with customer service and may be able to do something anyway.

Well AppleCare has been accepted as i had anticipated for iPhone and we can presume that the reasonable time is the two year limit as stated in the EU Directive above.
