BT will provide a telephone line - though you can use other (cheaper) providers for calls if you want.

They also offer broadband (ADSL) but as well as their own broadband offerings, there are many other ISP's offering broadband over BT lines - have a look at Think Broadband for some ideas

If you want extra TV channels, you can either get Sky or Freeview.

BT have also recent launched BT Vision which is a combined Freeview box and video on demand service

I believe that Plusnet and Vodafone's broadband customers will also be able to get BT Vision soon and within a year or so, it will be available to other ISP's customers.

Also, BT plan to release a 'self install' version to reduce the installation charge.

I believe this is because BT are in the process of buying Plusnet, so will be a BT company, and Vodafone are using the BT wholesale broadband infrastructure for everything rather than just the last mile into your home. So these two companies can probably be considered "special". I haven't been able to find anything about other ISP's but may be looking in the wrong place.
