a warning to soft hearted parents

I paid my daughters car insurance payment when she was short of cash. When I checked my bank balance yesterday there was nothing left! Kwikfit insurance had charged £554 to cancel her policy and when she did not have enough in her account they took it from mine. They have agreed to refund my money but it will take 8 working days which will take us to 2012. Merry Christmas!

Oh, that's bad. Sorry to hear about this.

My mum helps me out sometimes when I am short, for which I will always be grateful (I do pay her back) - I would be mortified if anything like this happened to her as a result though!

She generally helps me by putting a bit of money into my bank account, coming with me to the petrol station and paying for £20 or so of fuel, or buying me a "basics bag" of shopping (loaf, pack of pasta, pint of milk, tinned tomatoes, wedge of cheese). That way, there's no danger that anyone associated with me (I'm not up to anything naughty, I just have an IVA and struggle at the moment) gets her bank details.

Your daughter is very, very lucky to have a lovely mum who is willing to help. I'm just so sorry that this happened - hope it doesn't cause too much of a problem between you, especially at this time of year...
