Panasonic Camcorder - NVGS500 - any good?

Hi all,

Mr EL is thinking of getting a new camcorder and he has narrowed the search down to the Panasonic NVGS500 as he wants the video quality to be really good because of editing to DVD, and can't afford HD. 3CCD with Panasonic seems about the best.

Any pros/cons?

Ideas as to the cheapest?

Purely Gadgets seems to be best price at around £530.

Many thanks for any comments :T

I don't have this model, but I do have a different Panasonic Digital Camcorder and I've been very happy with it. The Picture quality is good and it's easy to use.

Probably not a lot of help but it will bump it up at least!

Thanks BillScarab - we had a Panasonic previously so want to keep with the brand (although the last one started to get a weird error which Jesspops wanted £50 just to look at - we paid - then it would have been £390 to repair - on a £380 camcorder!!!)

Will be nice to get a new model and Panasonic seems best for price, just wondered if anyone had experience of this NVGS500 model...

Your best bet is a trawl around AVForums website, it specialises in discussions on just these sorts of topic.
