Getting a phone line connected

While doing my house up the main box for the phone line was pulled off the wall so I need a new 1 putting on but instead I'm hoping to get a outside box installed, also the phone line that runs from the telegraph pole and down the side of my house needs tighting up.
Who do I contact to get this done and how much do you think it will cost.
Could I contact sky to see if they can sort it out as I am hoping to get 1 of their phone and Internet packages or will I have to contact bt and get the phone line connected first, also will I have to drill a hole and put a cable to the outside of the house where the box is going to go before their arrival.

The Master Socket (usually where the dropwire changes to internal wiring, or if this is the frst and only socket in the property, it is your responsibility from the socket onwards. The the box needs refitting/moving, only BT can do this, and the charge will be based on the time/effort involved. This will be the same no matter who supplies your service, as BT (Openreach) will do the work, then charge the company supplying you - who will in turn bill you.
As for the wire needing 'tightening up', actually it is supposed to sag - even more so in summer, so they are unlikely to do anything unless the sagging is the result of the supporting poles having moved to create a greater than expected loop, or indeed if it becomes a hazard.0 -
Thanks for the reply buzby so who will I need to contact bt or openreach or are they just the same company and will they just fit it and job done or will I be tied up in a contract with bt or will I just be able to get a package with sky
I know cables are supposed to sag but mine is a lot lower than all the neighbours coming from the same telegraph pole, I will just mention this on the phone and see what they say0 -
You can pick whoever you like to get a line installed, but the company you chose will expect you to honour a minimum term contract, if you want to use Sky contact them....if the line is no longer connected at the property, Sky should arrange an appointment with BT/Openreach to install a new line, if the existing wire from the pole to the house is lower than whats allowed the engineer should either raise it replace it possibly with a 'cherry picker' type hoist...call BT to do the install them move to Sky inside the contract period and BT would charge you for early termination0
