Current FOS PPI complaints figures

For anyone interested.......
Received letter from FOS regarding an HSBC complaint today. It says the following:-
'We have worked hard to resolve more than 100,000 PPI complaints since April this year. However, the number of complaints we have received has tripled over the last few months - from 1,000 a week to nearer 3,000. This means that although we are working through complaints at the same rate, the number that we have outstanding has risen to just over 80,000.'
I will hear from them them again within the next three months. Not a problem but odd that the FOS said in October that the new complaints had tailed off.

I suppose as the banks gradually clear their backlogs, people start getting more rejections - so there's a build up of people going to the next stage.0
