Had a really embarassing situation at a Metro store yesterday on my way home from work. It's a very small store with only 1 or 2 manual tills and the rest are self service.

Just before xmas, I'd bought some of that champagne which gave me a £14.99 JTD voucher - my very first one.

Did shopping which came to just over £15 and told the lady at the self service that I had one of these vouchers. She scanned it in and then typed in the amount, only it wouldn't let her type it it in. It would only let her type £1.49.

25 minutes later, 3 staff later and one manager later, I was advised that I can only use vouchers for less than £9.99 on the self serve tills and that I'd have to use a manual till (which, considering none were open was a bit difficult).

Lucky for me though, they opened one up just to finish off the transaction, but as I walked out, I felt that all eyes were on me and the security guard made a point of saying "Goodbye" on my way out.

  • I too bought quite a bit of andrex on the go @ 6p feel quite ripped off now lol it'll be a challenge now to try and get some @ 1p cos I go thru tons of tissues, kitchen roll and toilet roll cos I am constantly wiping dog spit off my 3 mastiffs so I got these andrex dotted around the house now
We are many we are one xxx

So that every single post that I contribute to this thread is on topic I would just like to say I am an elite 11+ member and I hear the unjust silence of my opinions whilst I am shopping in supermarkets mainly. Just sayin.

That's correct, a SS till cannot accept a coupon over the value of 9.99

  • In my local they know that the ss till will take a maximum of 3 digits so if I have a £10 voucher they put it through as £5 + £5 - they may need to wiggle their card thingy in the slot to simulate posting the voucher if you see what I mean.
