Amex Platinum - Changes to travel insurance

They cancel your Priority Pass membership at the same time - when you visit a lounge they swipe your card so they'll turn you away.
Well.. if that's the case things have changed.
In the past the PP card itself would remain valid. If you used it after you cancelled Amex, Amex would just bill you for the usage.
In my case, I didn't use PP after cancelling Amex. But some lounges delayed getting the usage data back to PP. So guess what, I got billed by Amex. A right old hassle getting it sorted. Amex said it was up to me to sort out with PP. PP said it was an Amex problem because they should have seen that the lounge usage was before I cancelled Amex.0 -
If they do the same with the hilton and SPG cards - that's a joke as it took them six months to organise the cards - which is another annoying point and even more reason to ditch the card....0

Do you still retain the benefits highlighted by Not The Nine O'Clock News in 1980?0

I remember those benefits, even without clicking the link!
But I'll follow the link anyway, just to check..0 -
Ah.. the link didn't work for me.... did you mean this one?

NO not all - Amex charge an extra % to use your card outside the UK... and just walk all over their customers....0

I have Amex card type of thing
Not these days (unless you have a Gold one). I use it because of the cashback. Can I help?0 -
Some years ago (!) as a young bloke doing business in Asia, a Plat Amex Chargecard did get me some kudos (no Centurion then). Rather cheap compared with wearing a fashionable watch, flying long haul business class in a posh airline, staying in a nice hotel or driving a merc.
Later I remember giving my 22 year old assistant a gold card on my account (mainly so she could get the insurance when travelling). She thought it was so special and her friends all thought she must have a fantastic job.
But I think the world has changed a bit since then, or at least mine has.0 -
I paid for my flights with platinum Amex but the holiday company wanted £60 to use Amex. So i paid on santander visa debit card. I got sick and had to cancel all of it! I did not take out travel insurance? Can I claim?0
