How to decide??
My house has been empty for the last 12 months and I'm currently on EDF Online v7 which expires on 31st December when I'll be moved to their standard tariff.
I have spoke to EDF and they told me my annual consumption for Gas was 122 over 10 months and for Electricity it was 150 over 10 months. So obviously I have hardly used any. The house is still empty now but is nearly complete so I will be looking to move in probably around March/April time.
Would I be best staying with EDF until I move in because I'm not using much anyway so there won't be much difference in the price or should I switch now? If so, how do I compare when my usage is so low?
Hopefully someone can help?
Thanks

If I were you, I'd look for the best deal available at least 4/6 weeks before you move in as that is how long it takes to change supplier. If there's a better deal out there then you might as well take it

Does anyone else have any other suggestions or agree with the previous reply about staying on the standard rate until just before I move in?
I keep reading about how the standard tariff is the most expensive and how you shouldn't be on it so a bit worried that I am making a mistake by staying on this rate. I've tried comparing using my usage from last year, although this won't be accurate for next year because when I move in I will obviously be using a lot more. I've also tried estimating the usage based on the number of rooms of amount of people in the house but i'm not sure which is more accurate.
The other thing is that NPower are currently offering upto £100 cashback via Quidco which could be useful.
Anyone have any suggestions?
By the way, I was told the standard tariff I am now on is the following:
Electricty (exc VAT)
Standing Charge - 14p
Units - 13.06p
Gas (exc VAT)
Standing Charge - 22.3p
Units - 3.886p

Metric or imperial meter? Gas 'units' can be either. Better to give your actual kWh usage. No free lunch, and no free laptop
