Car battery gone to heaven.

The other night i went to use the motor and low and behold it had died. So last night i tried jump starting it to no avail. I then left the keys at the local garage and the chap came up to my street and looked at it. He used a car booster thing for the battery and left me a voicemail saying it was working but the battery was on its last legs.
I got home, tried the car and...it was dead! So been on Halfords site and put my car reg on. Splendid, it gave me three options but how do u know which one to take??

Bosch don't make their own car batteries.
Bosch = Re-branded Varta

So for £20 less than the Halfords budget battery, you get the Bosch battery in a different color.... :money:

No brainer really, they're not called Halfrauds for nothing. Delivery is around 2-3 days.

By the time you have added the shippping on for friday delivery, it's another tenner.
So, either get your car on the road first thing thursday morning, or wait and hope it does indeed arrive by 6pm on friday, on wait until next wednesday.
Sometimes Halfords look good.

Yes Mark, an easy job for anyone; just a spanner and sometimes a screwdriver required.

Remember to undo the negative (-) terminal first.

Note: If your radio has a code then you will need the code number to reset it after the battery has been disconnected and replaced.

If you go for the Halfords option then check your handbook for battery type as they often specify a standard lead acid battery as an option on some cars that need a silver / calcium battery for the smart charging systems on the car.

Not always the case , I changed a battery on a 2.0 Focus a few weeks back and half the battery was hidden underneath the windscreen scuttle lower panel so the air filter housing and part of the battery tray had to come off to get the battery out - not something some might feel comfortable doing.

I do have a giggle when i see people buying batteries from halfords, Europarts and GSF are way cheaper.

Sister bought a jump pack from halfords because she couldnt afford the prices they were charging for her battery.

She used to work around the corner from europarts, And the same battery was slightly cheaper than her jump pack.

I always get batteries from Halfords, one of the cheapest places, open late and Sunday ......... but I do have a trade card

Corsa no, (old) Beetle yes. I accept that there will be variations but changing a battery isn't a difficult task on most cars. Yes, removal of some batteries may be difficult as they require removal of some other housings etc. increasing the time for the task but most people can do it using basic tools and without requiring a mechanic.

The best part of £100 for an 063 battery? Go to your local factor, wear a suit, wear a badge saying I'm gullible, hand them a pre-printed card saying, no, I've nothing whatsoever to do with the motor trade and then still, the guy behind the counter would not have the nerve to charge anything like that amount for such a common, off the shelf battery.
