There is also free parking, admittedly only for an hour or sometimes two, in the residential streets opposite. We are usually lucky and get a free space.

You can also get parking subsidised if you are going to the Cinema and get your parking ticket validated. I think it's four hours for £1.50 this way.
A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.

Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels.

  • I think Gunwharf Quays is a fantastic place although admittedly their car parking is expensive but as already pointed out it is a few minutes walk from Portsmouth Harbour train station.

IMHO it's the most attractive retail/leisure complex i've visited and i'm always recommending it to people for a pleasant day/evening out.

Don't go expecting it to be full of rock bottom bargains: how, why and when retailers discount is well known and Gunwharf is no exception. But if you have realistic expectations you can do ok.

I particularly like the Ted Baker store but these are expensive products and remain expensive even when discounted but i've picked up half price classic tailoring there that i'm very pleased with.

In addition to the outlet shops there, it's a pleasant place to get a meal and/or drink as it's been attractively designed and is right on the waterfront with harbour views. It has a distinctly nautical theme and, as a decommissioned royal naval base, has kept many of the features of the former base including a canal type thing (presumably where craft were dry docked) and some torpedoes etc. Additionally, it is part of the Portsmouth millennium development so there is the Spinaker tower and a walk (designated by a rope pattern in the paving stones) that you can follow to Old Portsmouth (20 minutes' walk or so) where there are original fortified harbour walls to explore (on and in) - it's actually very interesting!!
