Sky To BT switch - unsure of what BT will charge

I cancelled my BT line last night and given a final date of 19th Jan and was quote £8 package fees and £15 proportion line rental + phone calls used, in order to switch to Sky.
Following this, I rang Sky today to place and order and said that as my BT was cancelled, they couldn't reconnect to the BT line and would charge installation fees. After I explained that I'd just cancelled I asked what the best option was to remedy this and was advised to ring BT back to uncancel my BT cancellation. This was done no problem, but forgot to ask what the charges would be if I left to go to Sky.
I've got a Sky confirmation date of 3rd Jan.... but where would this leave me standing with BT?? I'm going to ring BT in the morning to explain and get some advice, but can't settle tonight because I think I've mucked it all up.
Can anyone advise or make sense of this for me? If Sky went ahead with the switch, and as a result terminated my BT, would this land me in hot water with BT?

Absence is as important as abundance.

Why did you cancel with BT? What you are supposed to do is to get your MAC from BT and the give it to Sky when you sign up, not cancel your existing provider first.
Once you have a confirmed switch date from Sky, go back to BT to confirm the transfer.
Once your line is actually cancelled you would have to pay any provider a reconnection charge. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I get more calls uncancelling cease orders than anything else ha. Your cancellation charges for BT will be approximately the same.0
