Hi I am panicking a bit, I applied for IS after I seperated from my husband 5 mths ago, shortly after my application my dad (very generously I know) gave me £5000 (to start my new life so to speak) I am now wondering if I should have declared this when I first had it, I know it wouldnt affect is so to speak as is a £6000 threshold but should I tell them about the 5k! I havent spent any of it yet and is sat in a different bsnk account from my current one!
Do I need to declare it, or only if it reaches 6k.

you need to declare ALL monies in ALL acounts, thats what it asks for on the forms, just phone them and let them know,as long as all your accounts add upto less than £6000 and always have since you got I/S then no problem0
