    Hello MSE'rs :D....

What have we been up to????
Well first of all we've cooked batches of food, frozen what's left and bulked it out another day with toms etc. So sometimes we've had 4 meals for the price of two (with the exception of toms and a handful of frozen veg) :p :rotfl: :p...Well almost if you want to get picky :D..
Still keeping up with, Thje Sealed Pot Challenge here:

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3649179

The DW saw a scooter when she was car booting got for £2.50 :D, said it'll need a bit of work though :rotfl:.

    Handles, grips ripped/knackered:

    13022012434.jpg

Back wheels blackened, frame scratched/gouged all over :
    13022012431.jpg

After a bit of work, the use of left over things: star****s, left over Hamm*rite, a brush, sandpaper, oil, cushion grip from p**ndland (was to fix pram handles) we have the following:

    14022012436.jpg

The DD's over the moon with it, and better than spending £30+ for one :D

    Happy MSE'ing everyone :j

    Thanks saorsie :D...

Right, what have I been up to? :p We needed some new chairs, etc. for the sitting room (long story), we couldn't find any on freecycle, none I'd part with with money for at the local charity shops, second hand shops....I finally found some in the local recycling shop though :j....

    21022012457.jpg

They're Ikea ones (we fancied some years ago - but couldn't afford them), had a check over of them, they needed a good scrub over and a sand down and revarnish :p...Price = £10 for the 3 :j...Get in ;)...We paid for some new black cushions/material total cost for all 3 finished, just under £55. Price for one new, I think was £69.99 with a cushion . To buy them used on e**y would roughly be £30 each, plus pick up costs . Well pleased with my self...Just finishing of varnishing some of the frame at the moment :D.

Thanks to the OS board , the tip of using one tablespoon of powder per laundry load, my cheap box of powder has lasted six weeks already :D.

    Happy MSE'ing everyone

  • I've been pretty quiet for two reasons on this thread, one because I was pretty much doing everything I was doing previously, and the second reason can be found here in The Sealed Pot Challenge.
I’ve done a few other little things, I'll share, to keep up with the MSE way...

    The Step Ladders:
We'd finished laying new laminate, and I'd started to paint the room, when I'd noticed what had happened...I'd left a nice big scratch on the new laminate, I hadn't noticed but the plastic caps that come on the end of the legs on step ladders had 'gone'. The lovely DW did not want them used again, 'but it's over twenty pound plus for a new pair', I hear you say. I tuck them to one side, reluctantly sobbing, they had served us well. On a trip to the local market I notice the bits 'n' bobs man had a box with things for 50p. I look in, and a ray of shining light appeared, and music could be heard. 'What delights did he have?', I can hear you say. Well, I'll tell you...rubber ends for old men’s walking sticks...I thought to myself, they'll do nicely, for the ends of the legs on the step ladders. All of you say yay, as the ladders were loved again.

    The Sealed Pot Challenge:
Still keeping up with it, even though I hadn't posted much, for one of the reasons mentioned above. They're a great bunch, and everyone's looking forward to the 'big opening'. Waves at any of them if they're reading.

    Paint:
We'd bought some 'value' paint, and realised that it was taking 4-5 coats to cover up some of the walls. We swapped to a better well known, better viscosity paint, it took two coats instead. So the 'value paint' was false economy - plus time hungry... :eek:Sad eyes – frowny face :rotfl:...

Repainted the table: With some left over paint...ah ha :rotfl:...You thought I'd spent some money there didn't you? :p

Fixed the car myself: Had to clean the EGR valve, and replace two bulbs inside ;).

Salvaged the towel rail in the new house: It was a lovely towel rail, just a basic 50's style one. Some left over wire wool, elbow grease and time, and it's good to use :j.

House move: A lot of walking, lifting, help, time, and we moved house without having to pay for removal men we couldn't afford:p .

That's all I can think of for now – but I'll keep you updated as I go.

I've got a quick question for you all. Has anyone tried shaving with Sweet Almond Oil? I'm just curious about anyone else’s experience. I know some people have tried: veg oil, soap, washing up liquid (yeah, I know – squeaky clean), hair conditioner, and list could go on.
Here's the link to it, if you've got any comments or advice: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/57579619#Comment_57579619

Hello everyone had a go at shaving with the Almond Oil, as an alternative to shaving oil from the shop or shaving soap. It was weird at first, but now my skin feels surreally smooth :rotfl: :D :rotfl:. I don't think it's used to that level of comfort.

Found these on shaving with Oil, for those interested...

Hello everyone :D. A quick update about what I've been up to.

    Shaving with the oil
...It's still going well, and my skin feels freakishly smooth :rotfl:.

Dishwashing Scrubbing Pads....Cutting them in half and washing them (in washing machine) after they're 'reaching their end' and reusing them again, when clean. It's not as bad as it sounds :p.

Floor Paint...The DW found some in one of the pound shop, apparently it covers 3m squared. Guess what's happening to the toilet floor soon :rotfl:.

Still keeping up with The Sealed Pot Challenge too. It's here: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4318211
