    Hi,

Yes I think you will be charged, and thats If, you can get "cashback" on a credit card rather than a debit card. The option might not be available.

I've never asked so I'm not certain.

The option ought not to be available.

Im occasionally asked if I want cashback on my CC but I think it's the cashier being on autopilot rather than the option really being available
  • I have worked in both Morrisons and ASDA and neither of them have been able to offer cashback on a credit card - the till wont allow it.

Question about cashback with credit card has been asked several times. Search the forums with "cashback credit card".

In one it is said that cash back is available at Wilkinson. I cannot verify that this is the case.

Normally cash back isn't available for a credit card as the retailer is charged a %age for processing the payment, and paying a %age on something they have not sold does not normally go down well with management unless you pay the %age on the full amount (but some shops don't have that option)
  • I paid by credit card once by mistake (looks to similar to my debit card) and asked for Cashback at Tesco's, they refused and said they couldnt do it with credit cards, probably because of the large fee's (most cards are min. £3 per withdrawal)
  • Retailers are charged a percentage on credit card purchases, as already stated above. Debit cards on the other hand only have a set fee for the retailer, e.g. 10p per transaction or even lower if they are a big company. So the retailer can give cash back and it won't cost the retailer extra to process.

They do cash back as to reduce the amount of physical cash on the premises.
