Most probably because they need to know what resources they need to allocate to you if you are going to use them - if your not they can use them elsewhere.
I havent found them at all pushy during the last 6 years, indeed I have found them very helpful.- i enquired about payplan on the given advice of people on here about a free debt management plan - they now keep phoneing me every day wanting to know if i made up my mind ! i also asked CAP for appt and was told to phone back 3rd jan as booked up for xmas

Hi
CAP make personal visits remember and there will only be one or two people for your area. All the debt charities are incredibly busy.
Payplan are trying to help, they make think your scared to phone them.
You will get sorted.I'm Debt Free :j 2/09/2013

out of the 2 , who would you go for0 -
I'm with CCCS to be honest.
Wait till you've spoken to CAP and then see which suits (cop out answer). You may feel more comfortable with Payplans way of doing things but you may prefer the personal touch that CAP give. Horses for courses.I'm Debt Free :j 2/09/2013

im not as you put it copping out , i know i need to do something and i know that they are busy and are fully booked up way past xmas but i want to give them chance as have only heard good things0 -
I don't think the poster meant you were copping out - I think they meant that they were copping out with their answer to you.
You seem really defensive when people are trying to help you...
Personally I would go with any one of the 3 charities - whoever could help me the quickest. I sorted my dmp with cccs in 3 days and have never looked back. I think that you'll get good service from all of them, they're all in it to help rather than to make money like the fee taking companies.
Good luck.Ninja Saving Turtle0 -

thanks - i dont mean to sound pushy or denfensive in any way just got alot going on and want to get my life sorted out , just hoping and praying for a mircile really0 -
I totally understand. It's not long since I was in the same place that you are at the moment - honestly. I still hate talking about money to people in real life because I'm horrifically embarrassed of the situation I got myself into. I've been in tears today because I've had to find a lot of money for car repairs that I don't have.
My honest to god advice is that if you've made the decision that a dmp is for you then just get it going as quickly as you can. If that means Payplan rather than CAP then so be it. They all have the same motives which is to help you to get out of debt.

yeah i guess your right - things closeing for xmas now so looking like the new year!! i need to learn how to manage money , spend cash instead of on debit card unless vital and how to save a bit , how do you do that0 -
The best thing for me is getting involved in the challenges on the boards. No spend days, grocery shopping, sealed pot etc. Makes me far more aware of what I'm spending every day.
Write down every single thing that you spend. Either notebook or spreadsheet, and make sure that you keep up with it. Look for best deals (I've just halved my phone/internet package).
And keep talking on here.Ninja Saving Turtle0
