Is it to late to claim?

Hi me and my husband took out mppi on our mortgage from 1998 to approx 2004, we then re-mortgaged and moved to another company. Is it to late to try and claim anything back - I have got account numbers.

  • If you have grounds for believing it was missold, then it's not too late and it's worth having a try.

The main reason why it can sometimes be difficult to go back too many years is whether the lender still has the records.

Thanks for replying, I suppose its worth a try, My and my husband were only 19 at the time and didn't know any different. We were both working and got paid if we we were off sick.

    Hi there

I agree with Dr Squeeze, if you have reasons for a mis sale then give it a go, many have been successful even from accounts taken out in the 90's, good luck.

Did you use a broker or lender to arrange it? (it is pre-regulation if a broker was used).

That is irrelevant. You were legally adults and you entered into a major debt with the mortgage yet feel you were not able to understand a small monthly insurance premium. Unless, you are mentally unable to understand things then that reason wont fly.
We were both working and got paid if we we were off sick.

Are you saying that you both got 6 months full pay, 6 months half pay? If so, then you have a good case on that front. If its less than that (and most people are) then its not a good reason.
