Hi there can you advise please?
Two car family (Citreon C5 estate on a 10 plate and a W reg 1.3 Toyota Corolla).
Drivers 3, my wife, me and recently passed test daughter who is 17.
We have insured daughter on the Corolla only which she shares with my wife. The insurance was an eye opening £2000!
Corolla continues to run well, however recently has started to burn oil.
The garage that I bought the Citreon from texted me today saying they have 6 C1 1.0 VTR's with aircon which need to be sold (and registered before 31st Dec).
On a 2yr PCP 10000 miles with a £500 deposit it would just cost £109 a month. Checked insurance out for this car and it is £1300 per year.
Corolla doesnt owe me anything, has been reliable and is great for transporting bicycles (my daughter races push bikes).
I am nervous about running costs on the Corolla increasing, also the tax and fuel consumption would be cheaper on the Citreon (boasts 60mpg).
10000 miles per year's fine, also had PCPs before so understand how they operate.
Is this a good deal, are there better ones or is a new car on a PCP a false economy?
Would I save money on the Citreon verses what I currently spend (+ any repair bills, tyres etc).
Are there other deals for small cars which could save money through running costs, cheaper insurance?
Penny for your thoughts please?
Ian
