You're probably going to get more useful results by putting "Kobo vs Kindle" into your favourite web search site, because you'll get hits for professional reviews from people who compared the two side by side.

On here, you're more likely to get responses from people who have just one or the other and will say things like "I have a Kindle and it's great", which is less useful.

I'd look at where you'll be buying books at and compare the prices of half a dozen titles you're likely to get

A quick look at one I'm reading now - The Affair: Lee Childs - is £5.99 from Amazon and £7.49 from WH Smiths

Alternatively, a cd with 16 Lee Childs books (inc the one mentioned) is under a fiver on ebay. :D

I've got a Kindle which I love :D I'm not familiar with the Kobo, but a quick look at it, it does seem fairly similar, but one thing that stood out for me was the battery life for the Kobo says it's 10 days. I get a lot more than that with the Kindle.

I expect the main thing would be which you prefer - go and have a play with them both and see which you like the feel of better. It looks to me that the Kindle is easier to use, but then I am used to that, and haven't played with the Kobo and am just going by the picture on the website.

The point about where you will get your books from is valid - if it's likely to be amazon in the main, then it might be more convenient to go for the Kindle for ease of transfer (you can of course get books from elsewhere and transfer them too).

Someone downloads the books for free and then manages to get someone to pay a fiver for them?

.......... every minute and all that

Easy work if you can get it :)

Was there really a need for that? I take it the missing words were 'there's one born.......'.

I don't think I'm a fool as your comment was insinuating.

If you have the links for the free downloads of all the Lee Childs books that available now, please list them.

I was only trying to save people a few quid but if you can get people them for free right now then that's even better. Well done you. :T

'A friend' got a kindle last week and 'this friend' found tens of thousands of books to download in mobi format on the pirate bay.

Obviously 'this friend' presumed all of these were free content and all were above board.

Mr Childs books were on there.

Kindle is great but thats my opinion read reviews and form your own opinion. :)
  • if you join a local library you can download books for free but they are generally epub format which the Kindle doesnt play but I think the the Kobos does.
You can convert the books for Kindle by using Calibre but whether its legal or not I dont know.
