Bought the Houdini 2 seater from Sofabed Gallery. Needed to be self assembly in order to fit in through the door of our loft conversion. Fitted the bill perfectly and good value at £399. Easy to use and comfortable.Passionate about interior design, architecture, old buildings, new spaces.

If you are thinking of buying a Houdini sofabed you may want to know that the quality of the one we received left a lot to be desired. The basic frame and sturdiness seem OK, but someone had lazily drilled the holes in the wooden slats that take the connectors for the mattress, so that the underside of each hole was splintered badly. We had to razor blade off all the big splinters (every one of 6 holes affected) and sand down. Then we noticed that the drill bit had carried on to make indentations in other slats. Maybe we were unlucky, but it was very annoying to see such careless damage. In addition the assembly instructions didn't show two large metal pieces (maybe these were added to the design at a later date) and we had to work out what their function was by looking at photo of the finished sofabed on a web site.
Other problems included poor packaging, the metal components were not protected and had damaged some areas of wood and in return some areas of metal were damaged by the wood. It only needed a few more square feet of bubble wrap to sort out this packaging problem.
So, whilst I wouldn't say don't buy this model, I would suggest that you may get a bad one.
The only reason we didn't return it was that we urgently needed it as we had guests coming!
Cost was £399, probably worth that if it had been in perfect condition, but I would value what we got at about £250.0
