You haven't lost this money, you will get it back but not straight away. Unless you were planning on spending the full whack of money then I don't see the affordability problem here.
I wouldn't kick up a fuss with the HR/Payroll department, I'd request it from them in a reasonable manner. You would have go through their internal [grievance] procedure to make a complaint about it and if you are rude or inappropriate this can go against you. It's not like complaining to Tesco about your late grocery delivery. You have to work for this company remember so be as professional as you can.
Whilst you may be entitled to this extra £300, as you say, it was extra based on you receiving a bonus, so not having it shouldn't financially hinder you for a few weeks.0 -

Haha so true! in addition to my above comment, if an employee is rude payments can certainly be slowed down.....
If they are nice then CHAPS it is...rude - Cheque0 -
Just an update the money was sent via a Bacs payment today and it was actually more than I thought almost £400 so it definatly worth it.0

Well I hope you email them and thank them for getting the money to you before Xmas. They are only human and everyone makes mistakes it's how they deal with them that matters.0
