The Admiral group don't have the fact they auto renewal in their small print anymore. ;)

Like most insurers now if you actually read your policy documents when you recieved them it would state in the keyfacts that the policy auto renews or can auto renew.

I understand this but was asking if there was any steps I could take now it has happened.

When you say you no longer had need for insurance, what do you mean? Did you sell the car, scrap it etc..?

What I'm getting at is can you prove that there was nothing to insure after a certain date?

I still had it but it was declared off road

I assume that the DVLA give you Sorn confirmation? You could try sending a copy to the insurers and appeal to their better nature that you really didn't want the policy renewed.

Two problems though. They have done nothing wrong so it would be a goodwill gesture and secondly, just because a car is Sorn doesn't mean that you don't want cover. You no longer need road risks but fire and theft cover may still be required by some people.

Well it's worth a try isn't it. :)Thanks for the help.
  • Update:
2 phone calls and no luck.
Submitted letter of complaint by e-mail and have been offered a refund of the cancellation fee £47.50, which leaves £72.74 I have paid.

For the price of the stamp, against seventy pounds. I'd refer it to the FOS.

  • Luckily got the remaining balance refunded, after stating I was going to take it to the FOS. I think it just goes to show you shouldn't give up!
