    Its one of the joys of youth that you get to make all the wrong decisions rashly and repent them at leisure over the rest of your life.

    In about 20 years you'll be kicking yourself for not investing in a decent house when the recession really kicks in next year and houses are being lost and are cheap.

    Still you can't put an old head on young shoulders, nor should you try to.

    I wouldn't be doing quite what the OP is though, if he fancies something different (and i fully understand that, even at my age i can't stand boring euroboxes) then proper Landrover Defenders used to be very cheap to insure, my mate insured his County spec for about a quarter the cost of my Landcruiser....put some proper tyres on it go to offroad pay and play courses and frighten yourself silly..;).

    When I was young it cost me £170 to insure a 3.5L V8 in 1987 which was just over a weeks wage. It didn't cost well over a months wage.
