Hi all,

I did a test last night and measured the temperature in the house after coming in from work:-

15:51 Temp 7oC (heating started)
16:51 Temp 10oC 1.81 units of gas used
17:51 Temp 13oC 1.42 units of gas used
19:00 Temp 15oC 1.51 units of gas used (heating turned off)
19:25 Temp 14oC
19:35 Temp 13oC
19:45 Temp 12oC
22:00 Temp 11oC
07:00 Temp 10oC (heating had been on for 1hr)

The temperature was tested in a few other rooms and was around the same. The house is a 4 bedroomed bungalow - Double Glazed - I have 15 radiators but 6 of them turned off in the rooms we dont use.

We got the roof insulated last year and cannot get cavity wall insulation as our cavity is too small.

Is this okay? People at work think it is very high and that the temperature drop is very quick. Anything I can do?

 Thanks for any help....

I have a detached 3 bed bungalow with 300cm of loft insulation, double glazing, cavity wall but uninsulated suspended wooden floors (with air bricks) in all rooms baring the bathroom and kitchen and get similar heat loss. Bear in mind that is was quite mild last night so I'd be inclined to run your test again on a colder day. Also the fact you are only heating to a max of 15C means very little thermal mass is achieved which can also help to maintain the temp for longer when the heating is switched off.
