Storage Heater Wire (wall to heater) replacement cost?
Hello
My hamster chewed through the wire leading from the wall into my electric storage heater. The electricity has been turned off at the switch box and everything, and it has been reported to my housing association.
I just wondered if anyone knows how much this might cost for me to have fixed (I will have to pay as it is my naughty hamsters fault). They wont quote me yet as there is a wait for an electrician and it's nearly Christmas. I just wondered if anyone knew round about how much this would cost? Will it be a fortune?

No it won't cost much. An electrician can replace it in no time. Maybe half an hour labour, a call out fee and the cost of the cable. Maybe £50.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Thank you for your prompt reply, that eases my worries a little.0

Impossible to say what charge there will be on top of the standard call-out charge.
The whole run of wire will probably have to be replaced, so it depends how easy it is to run a new cable to the distribution board or switch.
You should be able to find out what the call-out charge is before he comes.
Curious as to how the hamster chewed through it though. Does it have free run of the place or you just put the cage near the wire and hoped it wouldn't take a fancy to it?

Surely the OP is just referring to the flex between the heater and the socket on the wall? Can't see why they can't buy a replacement and get a friend who is half competent at basic DIY to do it for them0
