Catalogue Fraud Warning

Be wary of receiving items you have not ordered.....

A laptop was delivered to me by Littlewoods. Not having a Littlewoods account I found this a bit odd. I called them and was advised that someone had opened a credit account in my name with my address, but used a fake telephone number and fake email address. They then ordered a laptop and had tried to change the delivery address to a house somewhere in South London. Littlewoods had (thankfully!) refused to do this as it was a high value item. They told me that had it been something smaller, e.g. £50 value, they might well have delivered it to the other address and I would be none the wise until I started to unknowlingly default on the payments. I find it very scary that they are willing to open a credit account and deliver to an alternative address on a first order with no proof that the person who opened the account even lives at the billing address! Littlewoods have launched an investigation. Hopefully they'll catch them. They are picking up the laptop tomorrow and have had to put a note on my credit file stating that I have been a victim of identiy theft which will alert other companies should the criminals try and use my details with another company.

You just need to wait for someone to come knocking at your door " sorry i think a parcel has been delivered to you by mistake, please can i have it" this is a common scam. also make sure it is a genuine courier that collects it tomorrow.
