The ones with the lowest electricity consumption-check the appliance rating on the models you are interested in.
if you are asking which type is the most efficient, that is a different question. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I run a dehumidifyer as I live in a very old house which although is lovely in all ways sufferers terrible condensation problems.
I would say that you should consider what size of dehumidifier you need and regardless of the running costs use that one.
Efficiency is more important otherwise you are defeating the object.
You must have moisture problems to be thinking of using a dehumidifier,in my own experience you should consider the cost that may be incurred should you not get rid of the moisture not the cost of running the dehumidifier.
I had condensation in one of my rooms before I got a dehumidifier and the cost of redecoration (not to mention the effort) far outweighed the cost of running a suitable dehumidifier many times.
By the way I find Ebac to be very good and if you buy online you get a five year guarantee thrown in free.0 -
The short answer is that the desiccant machines are generally more efficient as they do not lose power associated with the compressor cycle on compressor based machines. However as macman says, what is more meaningful to you as someone paying an electricity bill is the power rating of the appliance you will be using.0

Using a Dehumidifier to solve a condensation problem should be the last resort. You need to identify the source of the problem and fix. If you don't have extractors in the Kitchen and Bathroom that could be the problem. You also need ventilation, open a window slightly is essential in modern central heated homes.0
