Home Insurance - Flat Roof

I'm trying to re-insure my contents insurance and keep coming up against a questin about the percentage of my roof which is flat. apparently if this is greater than 30% then many insurers won't insure me.

here's the problem, my flat is a mid-floor flat in a 7 storey high building and i only need contents insure. therefore what difference does the roof make ??

the building was only build in 2004 and as with many new blocks of flats does not have a tiled roof.

is this question even relevant to me given my flat itself doesn't have a roof?

any advice would be appreciated

Unfortunately it does due to flat roofs having a habit of leaking and also they are very flammable.

Try a local broker (Avoid Swintons) or ringing a few companies as you may find someone who can take into account the position of the flat
  • seems very odd given i've got 3 floors above me but thanks anyway. i'll try a broker. imagine many people in london especially must surely have the same problem
