DVLA paid Tax Refund

Firstly i'm not complaining but am curious. I paid 6months tax online end of Nov 118.25 for a 1997 defender. The day after they did a refund of 19.00 and the day after that 11.75.
Anyone have any idea why?

No idea, as £118.25 is the correct 6 month rate for vehicles over 1549cc. Have you asked them about it?

And if you don't ask your tax disc may turn out to be invalid because not fully paid for.

Doubt it, it'll be valid until the expiry, if it turns out they've refunded in error they should ask for the money back rather than 'cancel' the tax, and if they did cancel the tax they would at least have to inform him of such before they did so.

What value is actually written on the tax disc?

That would be the normal course of events, to ask the RK to pay the difference. If they don't respond they can ultimately void the road fund licence and put a marker to that effect on the vehicle record. If police then stop the vehicle they will see the marker when they do a PNC check.
