Googlemail via Thunderbird 'Login to server smtp.googlemail.com failed'

Anyone else having problems with Thunderbird/Googlemail this morning?

I am using Thunderbird for my emails but this morning it says this 'Login to server smtp.googlemail.com failed.' and I cannot send or receive.

I have checked the accounts online and it is not the password, nor has the account been hacked and the password changed, I have not changed any settings so I am assuming this must be a Thunderbird issue.

I've tried to install the latest program but it's still not working.

Anyone got any ideas.

my gmails aren't coming through to my HTC desire today(i forwarded some to that address)
so maybe a gmail issue

No problems here with Thunderbird , but at least once a day I do get cannot access gmail but always comes back next try.

I've got 3 email accounts coming into there, 2 googlemail and one virgin.net - 2 have just come in but the one main googlemail account I use is not coming in and is still saying sending of password did not succeed. So it is not thunderbird and I cannot send anything. Weird.

Try later, it'll probably just be a Googlemail issue. Although you have more than one email address and the other works it's impossible to store every googlemail mailbox on a single server. That one account / mailbox is possibly on a server that's having issues.

I can log in online though - is there something else that happens to make Thunderbird connect and get the emails?

I assume it is to do that with smtp server. I never understand it at the best of times, LOL.
