First Utility Deal ... problems ..

Can anyone give any guidance / advice ? I applied for the First Utility dual fuel tariff through Moneysupermarket last weekend as per MSE suggestion only to receive email below.
Did not see this flagged within the t&cs ? Can they refuse to honour deal ? Is it a genuine reason ?
Thank you for choosing First Utility as your new energy supplier.
Unfortunately we are unable to supply your home with gas on this particular tariff. This is because you are supplied by an Independent Gas Transporter.
Independent Gas Transporters (IGTs) own and operate gas transportation networks which are independent of the national networks owned by National Grid, Scotia Gas Networks, Northern Gas Networks and Wales and West Utilities. There is an extra cost to supply gas to customers on these networks. In addition, if we exchange meters owned by IGTs we may be charged a termination fee. In such cases these charges make it more expensive for us to supply you.

Hmmm - Just had a look at Martin's G&E section and it does indeed recommend Moneysupermarket as a switching agent
He also lists a First Utility tariff as the cheapest supplier of 4 on a 'National Average Consumption' table so I'm not surpised you attempted a Switch to FU via moneysupermarket.
However if you do a search on First Utility, you might come to the conclusion that FU's problem with your IGT has been a lucky escape.
Suggest you put your numbers, ( kwh a year, not cash spent), into 'switchwithwhich', then if you wish to use Moneysupermaret for the actual Switch it's up to you.0 -
Count yourself lucky that FU could not switch you. I am a customer of theirs and am regretting ever signing up with them. their customer service is non existent and they cannot be relied on to honour their promises.0

I've got the same message from them - how do you know if the supplier will supply to an IGT house on a particular tariff, I haven't seen a switch site that lets you tick a box that says "I have an IGT supply".Never let your sucesses go to your head and never let your failures go to your heart.:beer:0
-
There aren't many that exclude IGT's altogether. It would be helpful to have a IGT tick box wouldn't it. When comparing you need to manually ask each company near the top of the list. Do you supply customers on IGT networks? Are there any additional charges to have a supply on an IGT network and how much? When you have that information you can compare.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Looking in another thread it appears that the second cheapest supplier OVO don't charge extra for an IGT so I'll probably go with them.Never let your sucesses go to your head and never let your failures go to your heart.:beer:0
