It is that time of year again were for some reason I get the task of setting up another gadget - this time it is a kindle that I know nothing about. I attempted to get the kindle to connect to the internet where I am (as I am not at home) and it will not connect, the only other option it seems is to set it up manually but can anyone tell me how I do this? It wants the following information but where do I find it - connection type: DHCP or Static; IP Address; Subnet Mask; Router; DNS and Security Type - none, WEP, WPA or WPA2.
Does anyone know where I can get simple step by step instructions to do this and to get books on the kindle?
Edit: I have now got it connected to wifi!

You shouldnt need to set up manually, I would check you are entering the correct password for the network you are trying to connect to first. Start with the simple stuff. Is it your wifi network? Did you set it up? whoever set it up may have set the password. Many routers now have networks set up as default with the name and password on a sticker underneth the router.0

When I switched the Kindle off and on again it asked for the password and accepted it first time!0

Is it possible to get any of the following ebooks free, books by Ronald Dahl or Jacqueline Wilson; crime novels suitable for an eleven year old girl; ebooks to do with the Twilight or Matilda movies or ebooks about Horrid Henry?0

I may be stating the obvious but the general idea with a Kindle is to have it linked to your Amazon account.
You can then visit the Kindle store on the Kindle and download books free and paid for to your hearts content.
Best sellers:-

It may well be Amazon's general idea but it certainly isn't mine
I prefer to buy elsewhere0 -
