Fuming with Expedia

Booked a hotel through Expedia for 3 adults and 2 kids aged 16 and paid in full with my credit card. Confirmation showed 2 kids aged 1. When I queried it was told that I hadn't entered any ages for the kids so the system had set them to default and there'd be an amendment fee of £102! I know I definatley entered the ages but have no way of proving it and feel like I'm being robbed. Any advice please? I know I'm probably going to have to pay it or cancel but I thought I'd tap into the knowledge on here before making a final decision. Thanks in advance.

I would just get a refund and go somewhere else. There are plenty of other places to book through.
  • Wow I use them all the time. Will have to watch out for this. Have you used them in the past? I only ask because they store all our details including passport numbers and I just have to click who is travelling.
  • Yes we've booked to go to San Fransisco with them in March for our wedding anniversary and had no problems, but they never took our passport details etc. This one's a family holiday with the addition of eldest sons girlfriend. The thing I'm really annoyed about is if I didn't enter the ages (but I know I did ) why wasn't there an on screen prompt? All seems a bit like a money making exercise.
  • I don't believe it. I've just been back on the Expedia site and put details of a trip in with the same travellers and it won't let me continue without adding the ages of the children! How can they say I didn't do it?

tell them you're going to tell your story to the newspapers, they won't like bad publicity. If they won't let you book without your childrens ages now, they shouldn't have then either

Like someone said call their customers services. search saynoto0870.com

call them. cancel. go with someone else.
Save saynoto0870.com in your favorites, and stop giving companies more £££ dialling 0870 numbers when you can dial freephones or cheaper alternatives
call your credit card company, tell them that you want to leave, 99% of the time theyll lower your APR%
Remember when that Bank Manager or Salesperson smiles at you, all he sees is £ notes. Dont forget the motto, "the wider their grin, the more debt your in"
