Need a bit of advice.
Neighbour slid down icy hill and into my parked car today. He has made a claim on his insurance and has admitted liability to me and to his insurer. His insurer is cornhill (Allianz) and has said that they will let me decide where my car goes for repair (Jaguar XK8 convertible).
It will need a new wing and possibly bumper. There appears to be damage to either the suspension and or Brake system as he hit right at the wheel and pushed the other side of the car into the kerb.
SHould I let his insurer deal with it or go through my own ?

no harm in letting his deal with it, but you will still need to tell yours for info only.Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

It's much easier letting the third party deal with it for you. If you go through yours, you have to pay excess and then claim it back.
get instructions in writing from the other ins.company. Follow them to the letter. By the way you can take your car to any garage that
you want.
As Chantz4 says, you must contact your insurance compan amd make sure they know it is for 'Information Only'.
Unfortunately, and I know it isnt fair, but it may affect your premium, ask them when you inform them.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
you can also ask them for the consquential loss of additonal premium loading. I have been through this situation recently and have got few hundred quids from third party.0

I've had 2 non fault 'incidents with the Coop and they didnt load my premium so not all the Insurance companies do it.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Generally it is easier to go through the third party insurers but the one word of caution is the fact you get no protection from the Financial Ombudsman Service if you do this (the FOS can only assist in claims against your own insurers). Normally you dont need them but due to the potential damage in an area other than impact area there is possibly a slightly higher risk than normal.0
