Bought a tripod last month. was just browsing, really, but then talked to a really helpful assistant who knew about the product. best of all, he said that some of the stores had had a promotion on a particular type of tripod and hunted around at the back of the store until he found one. unfortunately we found it was cracked when we got it home but the manager ordered a replacement directly and telephoned me as soon as they had it in store. have been convinced internet shopping is the way forward but it's lovely to have instore customer service.
