Now don't get me wrong they eat well and they took 3 or 4 holidays last year...it's just the heating issue...they seem to want to save it! Dunno!!
They come to our house and complain of the heat LOL!
If it's too hot at yours then fair enough.
So long as they don't savour the heat at yours and then return to a freezing house, just because they are worried about the heating costs.0 -
Actually the holidays were all last minute late availability and really cheap!! But mum's brother died last year after a long illness, they were very close and they really needed the break.
Dad comes to visit me every morning we live one street away (mum works in the morning) but he doesn't stay too long 'cos he says the heat gets to him LOL!
I think they're used to the cold! I couldn't bear it...my hubby says..."heat is half your meat!"...some old saying of his dads lol!0 -
How do you all think we coped before central heating. We all have different thresholds of tolerance to cold. If DH went from your hot house to their (relatively ) cold house then he would notice a difference. As long as they are active then they will know when it`s getting cold.1/11/06 -1/06/07 BSC #42

Well on one hand, a cold house will kill anything that isn't living in the safety and warmth of your parents' bodies. On the other hand, the cold will also stress their bodies to make them keep warm.
Try "interogating" them each on their own - see if they are actually cold. If they're not - then you're just too soft...
The other trick is to buy them a budgie. Too cold a house - bye bye budgie...

In our first house, we didn't have heating and I have to say that I think we were the healthiest we have ever been, the only time we were ill was after visiting mil who had the heating whacked up full - our bodies were not used to it and we both got ill. Not having the heating on can be a good thing.
The next place we moved to didn't have heating in the bedrooms - as we were used to not having heating we didn't notice lol
Everyone has a different tolerance to heat, even now if I go to MIL I'll be wearing a vest top under a cardi for when I get too hot! Have you asked your dad if he is cold?
I like the suggestion on the budgie!Proud to be dealing with our debts - We WANT to be debt free DEC 09

If they find the temperature at your house uncomfortable, maybe they just like their house a lot colder than you do (my parents' house is notoriously cold - it's a running joke in our family). Some people just don't like how central heating feels, and it can be very drying. Why don't you sneakily question your Dad a bit about whether the heating or the cold aggravates his lung condition? That way you can open up a bit of a conversation about it, hopefully without them thinking you are criticising, and hopefully it will put your mind at rest a bit."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

When I'm in it, I have the house very cold (in relative terms). When other people visit I crank it up - sometimes to (for me) uncomfortable levels. My parent's house is *amazingly* hot.
It is individual preferences. The trick is going to be to find out what they *really* think, and whether the are running it cold because of the cost."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)
