Switching (Scottish Power) - When Does the New Supplier Contact the Old one?

On the 15th I switched from EDF Online 7 - it expires this month - to Scottish Power's Online 17 tariff.

To stay on my tariff until the switch I have to make sure I tell EDF I'm leaving within 15 working days of my new supplier contacting them.

I'm trying to time this right. When does the new supplier usually contact the old one? I'm guessing they probably wait at least until cooling off period is over (7 days?).

Or is this one of those "how long is a piece of string" questions?

your cooling off period is usually 14 days but check with scottish power how long your cool off period is as can differ from company to company, if it is 14 days earliest edf will be aware of switch is 30th December.

You are right, it is 14 days. I did a Google search which indicated 7 days but I rang SP and they confirmed its 14 normal days - not working days.

Very nice rep told me the system automatically contacts the old supplier on the 15th day after switch.

As I went via Energylynx I'm not sure if this delays things by a day or two.

Lets hope EDF don't charge me a cancellation charge!

I applied to Scottish Power on the 9 December and just contacted EDF now on the 21st to let them know so the timing should work fine.
