ford focus struggling to start

i have a 53 plate ford focus 1.4 lx. it is a pain to start when it has been stood for day, thought it was the battery but have replaced that. will start after about 30 seconds to a min, starts fine after that for the day, any ideas please on what it might be. Thanks

When was the last time it was serviced and what mileage is it on?

91000 and not sure about servicing, there is nothing in the log and i havent in the last 10000,

Try changing the spark plugs.

So assume it hasn't been then. As said, spark plugs are a likely candidate as they would have needed replacing at 80,000 miles according to the manufacturer as they have a 40k life but in reality they should be changed every 30k.

We had the same with our V reg 1.8LX , took to our local garage and they put on machine it showed up no faults , so they checked what we had done service wise over the years . and the only thing they could find was Crankshaft seal , they changed it but it was a guess . And pleased to say that we have had no issues with starting ( been 3 months ). Hope this helps

A crankshaft seal would make absolutely no difference to a cars ability to start. It got accidentally fixed when they disturbed something when repairing the seal.
