Senior Dog Food

Bramble our 11 year old springer has always had Bakers dry food. Our old vet (before we moved) used to say "if it ain't broke don't fix it" because she was as fit as a flea. Since we've moved the new vets have said she should be on senior food so she doesn't put on weight and now she's got arthritis and isn't as active I thought I'd give it a go (although her weight isn't really an issue so far) The trouble is she just seems so hungry all the time and just never stops begging. It makes me feel cruel because I don't want to start giving her more treats and titbits then she already gets because that would defeat the object.
I'm now trying Wagg senior because the recommended amount is higher and I thought that might help, but she's still the same.
I'm really tempted to either ignore the vet altogether and put her back on Bakers complete or mix half and half. Any ideas would be appreciated.

At that age I'd be tempted to leave her on what she likes. Just keep an eye on her weight.0 -

Thanks Croatoan, I think I just wanted someone else to say it! She's actually OH's dog (he's had her all her life and we only got together when she was 8), but he just says "you do what you think's right". No pressure there then! I will take your good advice

Although Bakers isn't a good brand, I'd leave her on it as she's doing well on it. Keep her on the adult food but add something like rice/pasta to it to bulk her up so she feels full (but isn't getting any additional perservatives/fats/sugars etc from the dog food). Try it but if you notice any changes in her behaviour I'd reconsult your vet

Bakers is not a great food however as you say, if the dog does well on it then why change? Did the vet try to sell your their sponsored senior food perchance? Call me cynical....2 angels in heaven :A0
