desperately need help with gas account!!

hi all,

I will try to keep this as short as possible...

basically British gas have really done me over. back in Feb/march 2010 my gas bill per month was lowered for some reason from £40 to £12. being the honest person I am... I called them once id noticed a change in the bill and asked why this had happened. they told me the national database had "cut off" our gas supply. Which was wrong as I was still able to use the gas in the hours. (which I only ever used for the water as I had an electric fire in the living room) having just had a baby and suffering from an infected cesarean scar wound I would only ever sit in there till the bed time.

anyway... after a year of phone calls and messing around the gas still wasn't back on, and I was due to move into another property. which I did. now I have moved out they have given me a bill for the amount in full in which (they think) I owe of £2700. yes. that means I was spending over £200 a month in gas. sorry. but I think I would of died from over heat exhaustion if that is the case?!. anyway, I have been in touch with the ombudsman. they said its been more than 9 months for them to be able to solve the issue and I need to now write a letter of complaint. or email... thing is, I don't know where to start. could someone help me try to express this situation on paper into a complaint!? I am being hounded weekly by calls, emails etc and I am due another baby on xmas day, I can't take anymore worry and stress and I'm so financially !!!!!!ed I don't know what to do.

    I need to now write a letter of complaint. or email... thing is, I don't know where to start.

    Might have more time later, but for starters print off and study closely the British Gas complaints procedure.
