What are my Rights?
Hello all, this may not be correct section but here goes. I have a payday loan with cash genie that went in to arrears. Since the time of loan I had to change card so they did not have my current card details. I have been in email contact with them regarding paying the loan back in monthly installments.
Stupidly of myself feeling the pressure of xmas I started looking for other short term loams and I put my card details on a couple of the sites. On Friday 16th Dec I noticed £91 had gone from my account. I had to wait until yesterday to see what it was but to my surprise cash genie had taken it in 3 seperate transactions. I can only think one of the sites was an affiliate as I had not given my new details to them directly. I also did not authorize the payments.
Should I be entitled to this money back? should I also report the, to trading standards as I see this as fraud/stealing?

You took out a loan and didn't pay it back as agreed. Read the T&Cs, sure it'll be in there.0 -
LOL they got you then, if you owe more, expect them to be back.

You'll never outwit a PDL - they are 10 steps ahead of you and know every wheeze going.Since the time of loan I had to change card so they did not have my current card details.

It was their own money, so how exactly were they stealing it? They were retrieving it, that's all. If anyone was stealing, it was you.
Be thankful it saves you some interest, and if there's any left outstanding, get in contact and again and sort out a plan you are comfortable with.“In any moment of decision the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing at all.” - Roosevelt0 -
Of course they were entitled to their money back and nobody forced you to enter your bank details into numerous new PDL sites (which is just madness, sorry!)
Please revisit the debt free wannabe board. They are lovely over there and so helpful. Your issue is clearly your spending and you desperately need to figure out how to live within your means. You can't go on forever getting loans and not repaying them.
I can personally recommend going to CCCS or PayPlan. They are free and they are so non-judgmental. You need to be ready to STOP taking any credit (you won't be allowed ANY, not even an overdraft) and they can contact your creditors and negotiate repayments. You will be left with enough to pay the bills and necessary expenses. Cut down those mobile tarrifs, cancel Sky (get Freesat - it's just as good!) and cut your grocery bills/utility bills. Living within your means is the only way to a brighter future, trust me. I never thought I could live without credit cards but 3 years into a DMP I've never missed a payment, never gone overdrawn and I'm still alive
Christmas is now bought and paid for without even touching my December salary, which is a first, and it feels so good. Life's too short to have this panic every month... DMP Mutual Support Thread member 244

You don't hear people saying "I'm feeling the pressure of St Andrews Day".
Ridiculous.
I suppose you'll be neck deep in it by the new year unless you get a grip.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

Have to agree. Christmas is not a big surprise. You know on 1 January when it's coming around again and have 12 months to plan for it. If you don't have the discipline to save, use the supermarket services where you can buy stamps weekly/monthly towards your Christmas shop.DMP Mutual Support Thread member 244
